A Tragedy of Manners

Sure, we are kind
Kind of rude that is

;phin

Sometime ago, i caught the movie The Ugly Truth . And i must say, i was fascinated by the dialogue. Unfortunately, not at all it was written by Nicole Eastman.

"Which one is Gerard Butler uh?" , asked a 20- something-year-old-girl behind me in an unfortunate cardigan.

"Neh, that one lor.", answered her magnificiently astute friend, helpfully.

"Third one from the left"

"Which one?" ,pleaded the first girl, obviously suffering the little-known-mental-effect of wearing ugly clothing.

"Aiyoh, One , two , three," counted the smart one. " You dont know your left is it?"

Under most circumstances, i will not publicly object to such display of such sparkling conversation. Afterall, there's nothing more heartwarming than a demostration of helping out your fellow lian when she is in need of navigational guidiance and a refresher course on counting to 5. Unfortunately, we are not in a rose garden having afternoon tea.

"Excuse me, do you mind?" as i turned to face them.

They looked at me confused for a long moment.

You may have read by now that we, Singaporeans are a a gracious lot.Oh, yes. According to the results of the recent survey by the Singapore Kindness Movement, only a one in 10 Singaporeans are unhappy with the level of graciousness- and yes, i am the one.

And, being that one person out of the 10, i once again find myself stuffed in the cramped, windowless basement along with the rest of the huddled minority.

How is it possible that people can stand having someone's foot resting on the back of your cinema seating, and as if paying 10 mucks for a movie is an equivalent to a simulator ride with free massage. So, i suppose, the 9 out of 10 people hasn't left their homes since the day they graduated from day care and considers their houseplant to be most decent and charming.

Woohoo!

I think we ALL should learn. Then again, how. Kindness is different from manners. Kindness are that you help old ladies cross the road, and manners are like holding the door open. The next time someone hold the door for you, utter a word of thank or a smile would suffice, chances are that he is not on community service for punching his clumsy dentist.

bre`

p.s to no one in particular

next time when you want to utter mean things to people, make sure you ain't guilty of it. And do not. I repeat do not, accuse people of not keeping up with you when you put them second, its not their fault. Humans need to feel their worth too, a little appreciation helps.

look,bitch,stare

It's certainly possible that you may have problems due to an extravagant child today, Cancer. If there are no children currently in your life, you need to avoid arousing jealously or being too possessive. Emotional energies are very volatile, and things could flare up way too quickly. Recreational activities should be kept to a minimum this week, because after the Full Moon, you will have plenty of activities to spend your energy on. If there is someone older that you have not seen for a while, this would be a good time to connect with them.

My horoscope for the day, how true.

Life isnt as pleasant a ride as it always seems. But who cares, 5 years down the road we'll see. I would have clocked better life then. Volatile much? Tell me more.

Just got home from a movie with boyf, random date. Something about the movie, first, i don't know why is it called 'the hurt locker'. There is no obvious linkage though. Whatever the case is, it was still a movie that came across quite strong to me, the message it sent, the scenes.

Awesome.

School started, i don't like what i am doing this semester. Math, someone kill me please?

Hello to short hair.

It’s hard to sum up all the thoughts that have been running through my heard over the past one week plus. There are just way too many of them.
The bottom line is … I am just starting to get a little sick of being around people (although this is mostly due to my mood, and me not feeling up to it) and somehow, I can sense that people are starting to get sick of me too.
I have waaay too much baggage, I know. In the past year, my usual cheerful self has evolved into this creature whose moods swing faster than the rate your iPhone gets updates to an extent where I might as well be bi-polar. It is a huge change, I know, and it is turning people off me. I don’t blame you one bit.
My words are not quite making sense. It’s hard to type when your eyes are cloudy … and when you realized that you’ve just run out of tissues.
Although the recent entries seem to suggest otherwise, I am still much, much stronger than most people think and it will manifest when I am ready. Don’t look down on me just because I am sickly. My magic is still well and alive. I just need to recover emotionally first.

Until my emotional state stabilizes, ‘Fragile – handle with care‘ are the words that should be plastered on my forehead. Nothing is instant. It takes a few more days of vulnerability before things improve further, and I can gather whatever strength I have to launch my first missile.

Till then, the earth shakes, and my knees quake...

i have a hole in my pocket, the size of you.

i want to dance

16th October 2009, 1.22 a.m

No, I'm not colorblind
I know the world is black and white
I try to keep an open mind
But I just can't sleep on this tonight

Stop this train
I want to get off
And go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But honestly, won't someone stop this train?

Don't know how else to say it
I don't want to see my parents go
One generation's length away
From fighting life out on my own
Stop this train
I want to get off
And go home again

I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But honestly, won't someone stop this train?

So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young
So I play the numbers game
To find a way to say that life has just begun

Had a talk with my old man
Said "help me understand"
He said "turn sixty-eight
You renegotiate"
"Don't stop this train

Don't for a minute change the place you're in
Don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly we'll never stop this train"

Once in awhile, when it's good
It'll feel like it should
And they're all still around
And you're still safe and sound
And you don't miss a thing

Till you cry when you're driving away in the dark
Singing
Stop this train
I want to get off
And go home again

I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
Cause now I see I will never stop this train

i stopped the train, i moved on.
i have to admit,
it hurt, but no longer.
band-aids will be history.
fresh chapter.

train, carry on without me.
for i am now a single entity.
may the next ride be smooth.

I love your lips when they’re wet with wine
And red with a wild desire;
I love your eyes when the lovelight lies
Lit with a passionate fire.

I love your arms when the warm flesh
Touches mine in a fond embrace;
I love your hair when the strands enmesh
Your kisses against my face.

Not for me the cold, calm kiss
Of a virgin’s bloodless love;
Not for me the saint’s white bliss,
Nor the heart of a spotless dove.

But give me the love that so freely gives
And laughs at the whole world’s blame,
With your body so young and warm in my arms,
It sets my poor heart aflame.

So kiss me sweet with your warm wet mouth,
Still fragrant with ruby wine,
And say with a fervor born of the South
That your body and soul are mine.

Clasp me close in your warm young arms,
While the pale stars shine above,
And we’ll live our whole young lives away
In the joys of a living love.
